Global tech firm Bite Investments has launched a digital hub, Bite Wealth Universe, that gives family offices, external asset managers and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) globally access to private market and alternative funds.
In Asia, the platform is looking to connect with investors in search of portfolio diversification and asset managers that are seeking a platform to help with their fundraising rounds.
‘Sophisticated investors we speak to are looking for options to invest in private markets in search of diversification from listed stocks and bonds, especially after the volatility in 2022, which raised questions about the traditional approach to portfolio construction,’ Hong Kong-based head of Bite Wealth Universe, Justin Mason, told Citywire Asia in an interview.
Bite Wealth Universe has gone live, hosted on Bite’s software-as-a-service platform Bite Stream. The funds available come from white-labelled software clients and Bite Group’s regulated investment manager.
Investors will be able to choose from a range of alternative investment funds, direct and co-investments, and strategies including private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, venture capital, hedge funds and cryptocurrency. Funds can be filtered by strategy, style, liquidity, target return and geography, based on selected investment criteria.
Investors express their interest in a fund by clicking a button. They will then be directed to the manager of their choice to find out specifics on the fund and potentially invest.
External asset managers that work with private banks can also access Bite Wealth Universe.
The digital platform aims to give asset managers a chance to grow their audience, accessing different types of investors from diversified geographies, during what has been an unusually difficult fundraising environment, the company said.
‘Bite Wealth Universe allows our Bite Stream clients to amplify the reach of their funds and opportunities to our larger audience of investors,’ said Mason.
Bite Group has offices globally, including in Hong Kong and Singapore, and is regulated in Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia.
